The CNR certifies the effectiveness of BKM 3.0 against viruses
New and important awards for Idrobase Group's innovation: the C.N.R. (National Research Council) has certified, after tests in real conditions, the effectiveness (99%) of BKM 3.0 against viruses: this is a latest-generation air purifier, born from the research and collaboration of the Padua-based company with K-INN Tech, a Spin-Off of the University of Padua.
And that's not all: the device, which is also effective against Coronaviruses*, has been selected by the Scientific Committee, chaired by the Politecnico di Milano, for the Efficiency and Innovation Path within MCE-Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2022, back in Milan after a four-year pandemic absence.
Here, the products presented must respond to the new sustainability indicators, highlighting their contribution to achieving the goals set by the UN and to the transition towards a circular economy; new this year is the concept of "installation", companies are given the opportunity to bring examples of the proposed product installed in actual context. A good advantage for engineers and installers who can be further helped to understand the quality of the product.
BKM 3.0 is an air purifier for indoor environments; it directly eliminates aero-dispersed pathogens and activates a photo-catalyst made of titanium dioxide nanoparticles, which reduces the the concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air.
"The awards now obtained not only certify the potential of the made-in-Italy innovation, but are particularly significant now that Italy is experiencing a return of Covid variant infections. The BKM 3.0 device is the result of a combination of patented technologies, which not only eliminate viruses and pathogens, but also odours and moulds; it is the flagship product of our Clean Breathing corporate philosophy, in which we have been investing since the beginning of the pandemic,' comments Idrobase Group Co-president Bruno Ferrarese.
The coupling of photo-catalysis technology with the germicidal effect of UV-C radiations in a single device has been made possible through experimentation on a laboratory scale, which have allowed to validate a complex mathematical model.
The procedure for the experimental verification of the device's performance was developed under real user conditions.
The neutralization of pathogens is found to be very high, - points out Bruno Gazzignato, also Co-president of Idrobase Group -while the abatement performance of VOCs is adequate to decompose them faster than they are produced by sources such as building materials and furnishings.
BKM 3.0 products do not produce ozone.
